Unicode request for revised Goykanadi script proposal

[edit]

Dear @Kwamikagami make revised version of https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2020/20264-goyakanadi.pdf Milan Szymon Szulc (talk) 09:47, 16 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

It's not scheduled for now in any Unicode version. There's no stable code point assignment, that may change at any time, the repertoire will surely be revized. The UTC has not approved anything for now, except possibly allocating a provisioanl range in the roadmap. But Many scripts have been revized during the unification process, blocks moved, renamed, the order of characters changed, even the encoding model changed, and character names themselves changed. There are also competing or revized proposals expected. This could take years before reaching an agreement and solving the issues in discussion at the UTC, the ISO WG2, and various ad hoc working groups, that will meet and study the proposals, and compare them with many sources. For now It's much too soon to encode anything there. We're not even in an alpha preview stage and no Unicode version is expected to incldue such range. Be patient, too many things can change! If you want to contribute, join the Unicode working groups, submit comments, review the proposals, find sources, document them, disucc the issues, make comprehensive reports about what you found (ideally not on this wiki, but in documents (like Word/ODF, Excel scheets, PDF...) date and sign them, expect comments and corrections. And be open to discussions, do not give any order, you'll get oppositions nad counter-proposals, this is normal! Consider the document linked above, it was a report made 6 years ago. But it's not alone, you'll also need to look at other documents in the Unicode document registry, detailing oncoing discussions, issues, uncertainties, missing references, questions sent to experts, their replies, the results of researches made in various libraries and museums worldwide by linguists, archeologists, documentalists... verdy_p (talk) 12:06, 16 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Requested renames

[edit]

You uploaded the following files before the letters were added to Unicode. Now that they have Unicode codepoints, the filenames should be renamed accordingly.

File:Capital letter ayin.svg -> File:Unicode 0xA7CE.svg

File:Small letter ayin.svg -> File:Unicode 0xA7CF.svg

File:Capital turned Y.svg -> File:Unicode 0xA7DA.svg

File:Capital lambda-bar.svg -> File:Unicode 0xA7DC.svg SVG-image-maker (talk) 22:58, 6 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

High EU-Court decision in December 2025

[edit]

File:World laws pertaining to homosexual relationships and expression.svg

In December 2025, highest court of EU in Luxembourg said that same-sex marriages in one member state must be recogniced in all other EU-member-states: so Bulgaria, Poland, Slovakia and Romania have to accept same-sex marriages by couples, which married for example in Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Wien, Madrid or Lissabon.

Slovakia, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria should be coloured in a high blue colour, because these countries are part of EU und have to accept that high court decission by EU. ~2026-17892-02 (talk)

The may "have" to, but do they? Kwamikagami (talk) 13:17, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Can you confirm that this change to your image would be correct?

[edit]

A map you created File:Same-sex marriage in the Caribbean.svg does not have a legend, but it says "Color conventions as per other maps". I would like to copy over the legend from File:Same-sex legislation Lesser Antilles (named).svg but I don't know enough to judge whether this would be inaccurate in some way. Do you have any input? That should work fine. I'll change the red to match. Kwamikagami (talk) 18:03, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
